Here you can find information for upcoming camps. Semi private camps up to five students are held in my  Travis Heights home studio.

Classes are held my home studio at:1814 Kenwood ave. 78704. Each week long class from 9am-12 is $160 per child all supplies included.

Summer Classes

Paper Mache: June 7-11 from 9am-12pm Ages 5 and up.

Working with newspaper strips and flour based pulp student can create animals, piggy banks, wall hangings or even hanging planets. Forms are constructed using balloons, boxes, wire and other recycled material. Constructed items will be painted and decorated as liked. While forms dry students will enjoy other great art activities such as printing there own art class T-shirt, making a set of  unique cards, designing and making a mini FIMO  clay wall hanging,

Ugly Dolls: June 14-18 from 9am-12pm ages 6 and up.

THIS CAMP HAS BEEN CANCELED

I probably shouldn’t call them ugly dolls because they are so cute. In this class we will make our own creatures from scratch to finish. We will use plush soft fleece and soft stuffing. Student draw out their design first and then shown how to transfer it to the fleece and cut out. We will use a sewing machine and hand stitching to complete the job. Embellish with details of ribbon, buttons and fabric to complete the doll.

Painting: June 21-25 from 9am-12pm Ages 5 and up

THIS CAMP IS FULL

Yep I know kids love to paint and I have all the goodies to accommodate their needs. We will use real canvas of course and explore a variety of different paints such as acrylic, gouache, watercolor and Bio color paint.. Discussions will include cool and warm paintings, subject matter, realistic paintings and abstract paintings, adding visual interest. Lots of books and samples are available for browsing . Some techniques taught will include; adding sand to paint for texture, using scrapers for dragging paint, the use of the eraser on the pencil for etching into the paint and even using a finger to move paint around . Adding some collage will be suggested. Students will also have the chance to print their very own T-shirt.

Everything Jackson Pollock: June 28-July 2 from 9am-12pm ages 6 and up.

Art Camp for Tots:  July 5-9 Ages 3-6

THIS CAMP IS CANCELED

By many  request for a camp for younger students I am adding this one for ages 3-6. At this age it is important for little ones to practice basic skills. Kidos will get a taste of several art mediums including paper mache wall plaques, painting on canvas, air dry clay sculptures, mono printing, shaving cream painting and working with  pastels.During periods between lessons we will work on our cutting skills. A thorough safety lesson will be given as well as the proper way to hold and cut with scissors. This class has younger students experimenting with an array of tactile stimulation all the while having fun and bringing home beautiful things to show you.

Make Robots: July 12-16 ages 6 and up.

This is a new class and I am happy to spread the knowledge of robot making.  It will be like the machine shop or wood shop class that we had when we were kids. A bunch of cool tools and materials to work with and all that is required from students is an imagination. We will make robots from assortment of materials such as wire, metal, plastic and can be painted if so desired.   More than one robot may be made.Students will also have the chance to print their very own t-shirt.
